According to a research note taken from Bernstein Research analyst’s Toni Sacconaghi meeting with Tim Cook, Apple is confident in expanding the market for the iPhone. The iPhone expanded Apple’s sales of other products, especially in emerging markets.
According to the note Cook “appeared to reaffirm the notion that Apple is likely to develop lower priced offerings.” Apple does not want their products to be “just for the rich.” Cook is also projecting that the tablet market could be a $60-$100 billion market for Apple alone.
Expanding with other carriers is a major initiative at the company as well. The iPhone is on 175 carriers today and the BlackBerry runs on 550 carriers. Last week Apple added SK Telecom in Korea as a carrier.
